Mercedes is preparing Coupe-SUV that will tackle the BMW X6 step in the market. German luxury car manufacturer was appointed plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as its production base and is expected to be rolled out in 2015. Reportedly, a fund of 350 million U.S. dollars or about Rp 3.1 trillion ready to be launched as an investment in this project.
"The latest model to be built in Tuscaloosa is an important element in our development strategy. And, this product is one of the 10 models we plan to launch up to four years," said Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Mercedes-Benz.
Cars that plan bears the name of the GLS is the incorporation of two characters, M Class and CLS Saloon. It can be seen from the roof design adopts CLS. While the cabin space and haulage cheating M Class models, only differentiated haulage capacity of 5 passengers to 4.
As a supplier of energy, GLS equipped with three engine choices 3.5-liter V6, 4.6-liter V8 and 3.0-liter V6 diesel. GLS will not only disrupt the X6 market that has successfully made a sale of 120,000 units worldwide since 2009, but also will compete with new products that will present the Audi Q6 2016. Including the Range Rover Sport which comes first year before the GLS.
